Do you exfoliate your lips?
So i often read in many fashion + beauty mags (i.e. Instyle, Allure etc) that you should exfoliate your lips so that your lipgloss or lipstick goes on nice and smooth. Now i totally agree but when i see suggestions that you use a soft toothbrush i think, "who thinks up this stuff!??". I think i tried the toothbrush to exfoliate once when i was like 16, and let me tell you, no matter how soft the brush, it is still too rough a method. I prefer using a warm washcloth and gently rubbing in a circular motion over the lips and the area around the mouth.
Do any of you ladies have a technique for making sure your gloss goes on nice and smooth? do tell!

Post a Commenti never even heard about exfoliating your lips before. but i did read probably in YM (remember that magazine) to brush your lips. i did it once too but never did it again.
i only just started exfoliating my face so... yeah
brown sugar and honey.
I once tried the toothbrush method too and it didn't work for me. A washcloth is probably the best method, but what I've found works a miracle is slathering on Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm (the original) on my lips before bed OR Clinique's Superbalm Tinted Lip Treatment and when I wake up in the morning - voila. My lips are lipstick/gloss ready.
I do when I feel like I need it. I also use a toothbrush, which works fine for me. A washcloth works too.
WTH?

I'm glad im not the only one who heard of the toothbrush method. Seems suga~ i heard the brown sugar and honey is good because the sugar is soft and melts so it won't be too rough on the skin. Romania maybe you have a lighter hand then me, it really hurt when i did it.
Laura Mericier has a very nice lip exfoliator that I use occasionally at night. It just makes your lips feel a little grity but from that you know that its doing the job. The only thing to be careful about is to not use your lipstick or lipgloss wands after the exfoliator because you can get the little gritty thingys on them.
Love ya,

so glad you wrote this blog, i was totally thinking about the same thing. maybe i will try the above suggestion.
Yes! I learned to exfoliate my lips from Tyra...
with a wet
toothbrush and Vaseline.
Yes, I do! Especially in the Winter because they dry get and cracked. I just use my electric toothbrush.
Yes, Brown Sugar and Lemon Juice. It's the same exfoliate I use on my face, so when I am doing my face, I simply do my lips using my fingers in a circular motion. Works Great!...I even do my boyfriends face and lips. Try it and you'll get great kissbale lips.
Hi
I've tried pretty much everything thats on the market with lip products. I sometimes
use just a tinyhint of Clinique pore minimizer thermal-active skin refiner when I use it on my nose anyway... not much!!! Just a tiny, tiny bit... Afterwards I apply eiher Aloé vera Vaseline or
Sisley lip balm depending on whats closest hihi...
I probably should exfoliate my lips more. =/ Sometimes if I have time, I will do the vaseline/honey and sugar thing. But if I don't, after I get out the shower in the morning or wash my wash, my chapped lips are already pre-moistened and softened, so I'll just take a damp washcloth to wipe off the rest. It works fine. I just make sure to set my lips with a nice moistening lip balm like Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment
Sorry, I meant "wash my *face"
